What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a treatment used to relieve tension and treat illness, based on the theory that there are reflex points on the feet, hands, and head linked to every part of the body.  Reflexology is also known as zone therapy and considers there is a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands.  This Reflexology Course in Bath will teach you all you need to know to perform a wonderful Reflexology treatment.

Pressure is applied to the feet and hands with specific thumb, finger, and hand techniques that stimulate energy and release blockages.

Reflexology treatments are mainly used to release tension and stress. Stress can be a huge factor in worsening many health issues and not dealing with that build-up can create blocked energy in your body. Reflexology works to release this tension and therefore relieving this energy blockage. It allows your body to achieve a level of equilibrium, putting it into an ideal state to tackle anything from major to minor health concerns.

On top of releasing this stress, a reflexology session also helps increase blood circulation, release toxins, reduce and diminish pain and can induce a deep state of relaxation.

Once completed, where can you work?

This Reflexology Course in Bath is a Level 3 Diploma and qualifies you to work independently and start your own practice, empowering you to select your own hours and be in control of your work/life balance.  Alternatively, you can be employed by a salon, clinic, health club, or spa.  You may also find work in the NHS, hospice, or another healthcare setting.

Upon successful completion, you can join the Association of Reflexologists, AOR.

QCF and Ofqual

Ofqual is the regulator of qualifications, examinations and assessments in England and vocational qualifications in Northern Ireland. The QCF (Qualifications Credit Framework) is a new way of recognising skills and qualifications. It does this by awarding credit for units (small steps of learning) and enables learners to gain qualifications at their own pace along flexible routes.

The QCF has four main aims: 1. To ensure a wider range of achievements can be recognised within a more inclusive qualifications framework 2. To establish a qualifications system that is more responsive to individual and employer needs 3. To establish a simpler qualifications framework that is easier for all users to understand 4. To reduce the burden of bureaucracy in the accreditation and assessment of qualifications.

Qualifications that use the QCF rules are made up of units. This provides flexible ways to get a qualification. Each unit has a credit value which tells you how many credits are awarded when a unit is completed. The credit value also gives an indication of how long it will normally take you to prepare for a unit or qualification. One credit will usually take you 10 hours of learning. Units build up to qualifications.

There are three different types of qualification in the QCF: Award, Certificate and Diploma. The title of a qualification will tell you its size and level. If a qualification includes a unit that you have already been awarded, you can use the unit you have already taken towards that qualification. Units awarded by different awarding organisations can be combined to build up qualifications.

This course is accredited by ITEC (International Therapy Examination council – www.itecworld.co.uk).  Practitioners can also join IPTI (Independent Professional Therapists International -www.iptiuk.com); BCMA (British Complementary Medicine Association – www.bcma.co.uk) and CThA (Complementary Therapy Association) on graduation.
